Overview

We are seeking a Driver to support our transportation needs for our senior living community to and from outings. The Driver will require general knowledge of vehicle operation and servicing and display ability and interest in working with participants/residents who are elderly and/or handicapped.  

 

This position includes;

Responsibilities/Job Description

  • Accomplishes transportation duties promptly 
  • Maintains a log of transportation services and tasks performed throughout the driving period 
  • Organizes work assignments 
  • Provides coordinator or supervisor with adequate notification of schedule difficulties. 
  • Follows policies and procedures of Martin Luther Campus and state and federal rules and regulations. 
  • Can function effectively with limited direct supervision 
  • Cooperates in changing schedules to meet the needs of participants/residents. 
  • Responsible for the safety and welfare of passengers 
  • Practices sound and safe judgment when performing transportation services 
  • Recognizes and acts appropriately on safety hazards, incidents, and emergencies 
  • Extra duties as assigned 
  • Communicates with the coordinator/supervisor about needed equipment, supplies, and potential repairs 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Ability to drive a 14-passenger bus 
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and STS courses and annual criminal/driving background check 
  • First Aide 
  • Ability to read maps/ GPS systems and find locations 
  • Mechanical aptitude  
  • Can communicate both orally and in writing 
  • Must be self-directed and have good interpersonal communication skills 

Preferred: 

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • One to three years previous driving experience, preferably with seniors and/or physically challenged population
